Battery storage marketing: how installers win their own work

How do battery installers market themselves? The ones doing it well start with people who already have panels, then build pages for the words buyers really search. We sell the website, the SEO and the Google profile. We don't sell ads, PR or leads.

UK searches a month

400

Against 60 for "battery storage installers near me". Ahrefs estimates, 3 November 2026.

An illustration, not a real results page. Buyers tend to add the word "solar", so pages that only say "storage" can miss them.

The words buyers use

People search for a battery, not for "storage systems".

Trade words and buyers' words differ. These are UK-wide monthly estimates from Ahrefs, checked on 3 November 2026. They're modelled, so treat them as a guide to size. Your share is one area of it.

UK monthly searches, and what each one needs from your website
Search A month What it needs
solar battery storage 4,000 Your main page. Expect many of these people to be researching, not ready to buy.
home battery storage 2,800 Plain answers, plus what you fit and why. Good for buyer three above.
commercial battery storage 800 A separate page, if you do that work.
solar battery installers near me 400 Your Google listing, with batteries named as a service.
tesla powerwall installer 200 A brand page, but only if you really are approved to fit it.
battery storage cost 150 A cost page with your real prices. "solar battery cost" gets about 250 as well.
battery storage installers near me 60 Small, but clearly ready to buy.

Searches for help promoting this work are far smaller: Ahrefs puts this page's own search term at about 50 a month.

What we do, and what we don't

Where we fit, and where you'd hire someone else.

We don't do everything an agency might offer. Here's what we can take on for a battery firm, and our view of the jobs we don't sell.

Jobs in promoting a firm like yours, and which ones Tandy & Co sells
The job From us? How it helps a battery firm
Website Yes. £600 one-off, no VAT A page for each buyer above, not one "battery" page. See renewable energy web design.

The short answer

Three kinds of battery storage buyer, in the order to go after them.

A battery isn't one market. Each buyer below wants something different from you, and only the first is cheap to reach. The order is our view, so test it on your own area.

  • 1. People who already have panels

Your past customers first. They know you, they've got the panels, and they may now wish they could store more of what they make.

  • 2. People buying panels now

Offer the battery with the panels, on the same quote, and explain plainly what it adds.

  • 3. Homes with no panels

A battery can charge from the grid. It's an easier sell if the buyer has a cheap overnight tariff, so say how the numbers work.

  • Firms and landlords

A separate sale, with a separate page. Only go after it if you've done the work.

Our proof, all of it

We have no battery results to show you yet.

Nobody has hired us just for batteries. Our one SEO client, SolarSave, fits batteries as well as panels, and it's weeks in. Its numbers are solar numbers, so we don't quote them here. You can read them on our results page and judge for yourself.

The honest bit: what we're offering is our SEO and website work, plus Stephanie's 13+ years in the energy industry, not a battery track record. The guarantee on our SEO means you don't have to take that on trust.

What it costs

Prices you can see before you speak to us.

The price doesn't change with what you install.

Website
£600 one-off, or £50 a month for 12 months. No VAT, no interest. You pay nothing until you've seen your homepage.
Google Business Profile
£297 to set up, £247 to overhaul, £147 a month to manage.
Everything stays yours
The pages, profile, reviews and links are still yours if you stop.

Who does the work

Two people, no account managers.

The people you talk to are the people doing your work. Stephanie knows the energy industry, and James knows how Google ranks pages.

  • StephanieStephanie has 13+ years in the energy industry and leads our design and branding.
More about us

“We will never lie to a client, even when telling the truth costs us money.”

James and Stephanie

One installer per area

We take one installer per trade in the town where they're based. It doesn't cover everywhere they're willing to travel. Your review covers whether we can take you.

Is it right for you?

It suits installers with room for more battery work.

It's right for you if you can take on more battery work, and you can give it a few months, because SEO builds month on month.

It's not right for you if you need installs in the diary this week. Ads are quicker, and we'll say so.

Channel by channel

How to promote an energy storage business.

Battery energy storage raises plenty of questions, and buyers look for information before they call. That's good for you if your pages answer them first.

Start with the customers you've already got

If you've fitted panels without a battery, you've got a list of warm prospects, and it costs almost nothing to reach them.

Write to them once with a useful, honest note: what a storage system might add to panels like theirs, and what it costs. Then mention it at service visits. Check the rules first. The ICO says you need specific consent to send marketing emails to individuals, unless they bought or discussed buying a similar product from you and had a clear chance to opt out, then and in every email. The ICO says this guidance is under review, so check it before you send. We don't run email, and you don't need an agency for one note.

The pages a solar battery installer needs

One page per buyer. Someone adding a battery to old panels has different questions from someone buying a full solar and battery system on day one.

  • Adding a battery to panels you already have. Compatibility, whether the inverter changes, and the price.
  • Panels and a battery together. Your package and your real price.
  • A battery without panels. How it charges, and which tariffs make the numbers work.
  • Each brand you fit, if you're approved to fit it. Give the information the maker states: warranty, capacity and chemistry, such as lithium iron phosphate.
  • Real installs, with photos, where the battery went and what the customer wanted from it.

See solar website design for how we'd build this.

Answer what people really ask

Good pages answer the awkward questions plainly, and each answer can bring in a search. If you won't answer them, someone else's page will.

  • Will it keep my power on in a power cut? Not every set-up does. Say what yours does, in plain words.
  • Can I sell power back to the grid? People often say "the National Grid". In fact, Ofgem's Smart Export Guarantee is paid by electricity suppliers for exported low-carbon power, and batteries aren't on its list of eligible technologies. So check before you promise anything on this.
  • How much will it reduce my bill? Only give numbers you can back up, with your assumptions: tariff, usage, and how much of the peak price the battery avoids.
  • What happens when prices change? Say honestly that savings depend on tariffs, and tariffs move.
  • How long will it last? Quote the maker's warranty, not a guess.

Selling a battery system to firms is a different job

A firm looking at one wants figures on power bills and payback, and a longer conversation. It won't choose you from a homeowner page.

If you do this work, give it its own page, with real examples. Show the size of past installs and who you did them for, with permission. If you've no real examples yet, leave it out until you have. Pretending will show.

Make your Google listing say "batteries"

Look at your listing the way a buyer would. If it talks about panels and barely mentions batteries, name them as a service, and show photos of real units.

You can do this yourself at no cost. We can set a listing up for £297, overhaul one for £247 or manage it for £147 a month, if you'd rather not. Ask for a review after each install, and ask the customer to mention the battery if it's true for them. Don't write it for them.

Batteries alongside other energy work

A battery is a natural second conversation. Someone who's bought panels, a heat pump or a car charger from you already trusts you, and they've shown they care about their energy bills.

Team up if you don't fit everything. A heat pump firm or EV charger firm near you sees the same kind of customer, so you can pass work to each other. Keep a note of who sent what, so you can thank them. See our solar marketing guide, or SEO for heat pump firms and EV charger firms. Our renewable energy marketing overview shows how they fit together.

Count batteries separately

If batteries and panels sit in one column in your records, you won't know whether your battery pages are working. Split them from day one.

Note each enquiry, where it came from and which of the buyers above it was. After a few months you'll see which group is worth more of your time. Past customers may turn out to be your best source, or they may not, and only your own records can tell you. Then ask for the same split from whoever does your promotion, including us.

Who we can't help

We work with firms that install batteries for homes and small businesses. We aren't the right people for grid-scale BESS (battery energy storage systems).

If your work is BESS development, or you sell large storage projects to investors and councils, you're in a different part of the energy transition. Your market runs on planning, connection agreements and long relationships. You'd want a specialist in business-to-business communications, not a local search firm. We'd rather tell you that now.

Want to know where you stand? We'll check your Google position and tell you what we'd fix first.

Before you write an advert

Three battery claims the regulator ruled against.

Batteries are easy to oversell, because the savings depend on tariffs, usage and panels. The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld complaints about all three of these. This isn't legal advice, so check your own wording with a solicitor or the regulator's copy advice team.

ASA rulings involving batteries and the lesson from each
Who and when What the ad said The problem What to do
An energy supplier, 19 February 2025 "Your electricity bill could be nil" A battery storing about 5.32 kWh couldn't realistically do that for a typical home. Say what a real home on a real tariff would see.
A home energy brand, 4 March 2026 "Shrink your electricity bills by up to 94%" It was modelled, and relied on an optional battery the ad didn't mention. If a saving needs a battery, say so in the ad.
A battery maker, 22 April 2026 "Effortless DIY installation, no electrician required" Its own FAQ said a certified installer or electrician had to wire part of it in. Make sure the headline and small print agree.

A real date you can use. HMRC says batteries installed in homes in Great Britain are zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027, then 5%. That includes a battery retrofitted to panels, and a standalone battery storing mains electricity. You can say so in your advertising. Don't invent a false deadline on top of it.

Questions

Questions firms ask us.

Something else on your mind? Ask us. You'll get a straight answer, usually the same day.

Ask us on WhatsApp
Do you run campaigns, ads or PR?

No. We sell a website, SEO and Google Business Profile work. If ads or PR are right for you, we'll say so, and you'd hire someone else for them.

Have you done this for a battery installer?

Not on its own. SolarSave fits batteries as well as panels, and we built its website, with a main page on batteries. We have no battery results to show you yet.

Should batteries have their own website?

Usually not. If you also fit panels, keep it all on one site, with pages of their own for batteries. Our renewable energy marketing page covers how the trades fit together.

How long does it take?

A neglected Google profile can move within weeks. New pages usually take a few months to settle. If you need work this week, an email to past customers or ads will be quicker.

What if SEO doesn't bring me enquiries?

We agree an enquiry total for your first 6 months in writing before we start. If we haven't hit it after 6 paid months in a row (£2,970), we work free until we do, for up to 6 more months. Then the free work ends, with no refund. See the 6 + 6 Guarantee.
