The problem
What people check before they ring a gardener
Someone letting you into their garden every fortnight wants to trust you first. These are the questions a gardener's website has to answer quickly.
Will you turn up?
Reliability is the main thing people want from a gardener. Saying how regular visits work, and what happens if it rains, tells them you run a proper round.
Do you cover our street?
Customers want someone local, and you want work close to your round. A clear list of the villages and towns you cover saves both of you a wasted call.
Are you insured?
Hedge cutters, mowers and other people's property. Showing your public liability insurance, and your waste carrier registration if you take green waste away, puts minds at rest.
What does a visit cost?
People like to know roughly what they're signing up for. A guide price for a regular visit or a one-off tidy-up gets you the enquiry instead of the gardener who hides it.
What's on your site
The pages a gardener's website needs
Google ranks pages, not businesses. Each job you want more of gets its own page, written for what people actually type in.
yoursite.co.uk/regular-garden-maintenance
Regular garden maintenance
Weekly, fortnightly or monthly visits. The page that fills your round, with how it works and what each visit covers.
yoursite.co.uk/lawn-mowing-and-lawn-care
Lawn mowing and lawn care
Mowing, edging, feeding and scarifying, for people who want a decent lawn without spending their weekends on it.
yoursite.co.uk/hedge-trimming
Hedge trimming
One of the jobs people search for most, with photos of neat hedges and a note on bird nesting season.
yoursite.co.uk/garden-clearance-and-tidy-up
Garden clearance and tidy-ups
Overgrown gardens, end of tenancy clear-outs and seasonal tidy-ups. A good way to meet customers who then stay on a regular visit.
yoursite.co.uk/borders-weeding-and-pruning
Borders, weeding and pruning
Planting, weeding and shrub pruning for people who love their garden but can't keep up with it any more.
yoursite.co.uk/area-pages
Area pages
A page for each town and village on your round, so you show up when people search "gardener near me" where you already work.

Who builds it
Two people. No handoffs.
There's no account manager and no junior. The two people you talk to are the two people who build your site.
Stephanie designs it, from the layout to your branding. She brings 13+ years in the energy industry, and an eye for what makes a homeowner trust a firm.
James builds it for Google. He plans every page around what homeowners search for, and tests on our own sites first.
You deal with us directly. Same-day replies, seven days a week, from 6am to midnight.

One firm per trade, per area
Your town is yours.
We take one firm per trade in the town where they're based. It doesn't cover everywhere they're willing to travel. Once we build your website, we won't take on another firm in your trade based in your town. Plenty of designers build for the firm down the road. We won't.
What makes web design for gardeners different from a normal website?
A normal website describes your business. A gardener's website is built around how people choose a gardener: someone local, reliable and insured, who can come regularly. So it shows the areas you cover, how regular visits work and your reviews, and it leads people towards the ongoing work that fills your round.
Can the website help us fill gaps in our round?
That's what the area pages are for. Each town or village you want more customers in gets its own page, and the enquiry form asks where people live and how often they want a visit.
We already get work from Facebook and word of mouth. Do we need a website?
Word of mouth is great, but people who hear your name usually look you up before they ring. A proper gardener website backs up the recommendation with reviews, photos and your insurance. It also means people searching for a gardener in your area can find you, not just friends of customers.
Many of our customers are older. Will they find the site easy to use?
Yes. We keep the text large and clear, the phone number easy to find and the contact form short. Nothing clever, nothing that needs an app. If someone can use a smartphone to look up a bus time, they can use your website.
Do we need to write anything?
No. We write every page for you from a short set-up call about the work you do, the areas you cover and the customers you want more of. You just approve it, and send a few photos of gardens you look after if you have them.
Do I own the website?
Yes. Pay upfront and it's yours from day one. On the monthly plan, it's yours after the 12th payment. Your domain stays in your name throughout.
What does hosting cost after the first year?
The first year is included. After that, keep it with us for £20 a month, with small changes free while we host it. Or take your website files and host it anywhere. No lock-in.
What if I don't like the design?
Then you owe nothing. If you like the style, we fine-tune the details as we build. If it's not for you at all, we can try a completely different design, or you can walk away.
