The problem

If you're not in the top three, you're easy to miss.

Most customers search for an installer near them, and Google shows a map with just three local businesses at the top.

What's included

SEO for solar companies, done for you every month.

We build the pages, profile and reviews that put your business in front of local customers. It's the solar side of our renewable energy SEO service, tuned to how people search for solar. Other renewable energy companies get the same monthly work.

  • Your Google Business Profile

Every service you offer listed on your profile, with photos and posts, so you show up in Google Maps.

  • A page for each service you offer

Installation, battery storage and commercial work each get their own page, written the way customers search.

  • A page for every town you cover

Real jobs and real details, to build your visibility in the towns you want work from, not just your own.

  • Cost and savings pages

Cost was the biggest group of searches we found for SolarSave. People who ask what solar costs are close to buying.

  • More five-star reviews

A simple way to ask happy customers for a Google review after every install, and a reply to every one.

  • Local links and listings

Your business listed on the directories Google checks, and links from real local websites, never junk links.

  • Technical SEO and on-page SEO fixes

Technical SEO means a site that loads fast on a phone, with nothing broken, sound on-page SEO and every page Google can read and index.

  • Calls and enquiries tracked

Set up in month one, so you can see what each month brought in, and the guarantee has real numbers behind it.

Every month you get a plain-English report: what we did, which searches moved, the calls and enquiries that came in, and what's next. Including what hasn't worked yet.

Local SEO for solar installers

Local SEO: get into the map pack for solar in your area.

Most customers search for an installer near them. Google shows a map with three local businesses at the top. Google says three things decide who gets in.

  1. 1

    Relevance

How well your profile matches the search.

If you haven't claimed your Google Business Profile yet, that's the first job. Then we list all your solar services, with the right categories, photos and words, so Google can match you to searches like "solar installer near me".

  2. 2

    Distance

How far you are from the person searching.

You can't move your office, but you can win towns further out. Local content, reviews and links extend your visibility beyond your own postcode.

  3. 3

    Prominence

How well known your business is.

Google says more reviews, better ratings and links from other websites help. So we build all three, steadily, with real jobs and real local sites.

For SolarSave, the average map position for their main search across 49 points round Retford went from 14.4 to 7.1 in the first weeks. The map pack is the top 3, so that's the next target.

Content

Solar content planned around the best keywords.

Every page should answer a search real customers make. So before we write a word, we map the searches in your area to the pages that will answer them. For SolarSave, that was 366 searches mapped to 70 pages.

  1. Solar panels, batteries, commercial solar

A main page for each product

Each product you sell gets a main page, so Google knows exactly what you install.

  2. What does solar cost?

    A clear cost page

For SolarSave, cost searches were the biggest group by far. A straight answer on price earns trust before the first call.

  3. Solar installers near me

A page for each town you cover

Real jobs in each town keep it engaging. For SolarSave, from Retford out to Sheffield, Nottingham and Chesterfield.

  4. Questions before buying

    Guides that answer them

Plain, informative answers to what people ask before they buy, each linking to the service page that solves it.

Website first, then everything else. If the pages don't exist, nothing else can make them rank. So new SEO content comes first. Then your Google Business Profile, listings and local links help them climb and widen your visibility.

Results

What happened for one solar installer.

SolarSave install solar and batteries in Retford. For over a year their old site got about 47 clicks a month from Google, nearly all from people who already knew the name. Here's what changed.

SolarSaveMCS certified solar and battery installer, Retford

New site live17 Oct 2026

  • Google views a day134 1,977The week before, then two days after launch. About ten times more.
  • Enquiries in 11 days62 of them booked a call. Too early to say how many found SolarSave through Google.
  • Map rank for "solar panels"14.4 7.1Average over 49 points round Retford. Lower is better.
  • Searches tracked209Each one planned to a page before we wrote a word.

The honest bit. Clicks are still about 4 a day. Most of the new searches sit on page four to six, and nobody clicks that far down. That's normal for a new site with almost no links. Moving them up is what the next few months are for.

What those enquiries are worth

£500 to £540

of enquiries SolarSave didn't have to buy, in the first 11 days.

  • 4 enquiries, as exclusive solar leads at their £25 to £35£100 to £140
  • 2 booked calls, as appointments at their £200£400

At SolarSave's lead prices, £495 a month of SEO pays for itself at about 15 to 20 enquiries a month, or 3 booked appointments.

How we did it: a search plan first, then a 72-page site. A main page per product, a cost page, a page per area and guides that answer what people ask before they buy. The site came from our solar web design work. SEO then builds on them month by month.

Is it right for you?

It suits installers with room for more solar work.

It's right for you if you can take on more solar work, and you can give it a few months, because SEO builds month on month.

It's not right for you if you need installs in the diary this week. Ads are quicker, and we'll say so.

Marketing compared

Solar marketing compared: SEO, ads or bought leads.

These marketing strategies each work in a different way. Here's an honest look at four kinds of digital marketing for solar companies, and when each one makes sense. Our solar marketing guide covers the wider picture.

If you need installs in the diary this week, ads are quicker, and we'll tell you so. We don't sell ads or other marketing services. SEO takes a few months to settle, then keeps working.

If you buy leads now, see how the cost compares with building your own in our guide to solar leads.

Questions

Your solar SEO questions, answered.

Something else on your mind? Ask us. You'll get a straight answer, usually the same day.

Ask us on WhatsApp
How long does solar SEO take to work?

It depends on your area and where you start. A neglected Google Business Profile can move within weeks. New pages usually take a few months to settle, and the gains build from there. SolarSave's views went up about ten times within two days of launch, but clicks take longer.

Can you guarantee I'll rank number one?

No, and be wary of anyone who claims they can. Nobody controls Google. We promise proper work on the searches that bring installs, and honest reporting on what's moving and what isn't. What we do guarantee is enquiries: miss the target we agree in 6 months, and we work free until we hit it, for up to 6 more months.

Do I need a new website first?

Not usually. New pages and fixes can normally go on the site you have. If your site is holding you back, we'll tell you in your free review. If you do need one, we build solar websites too. See our solar website design service.

Do you do SEO for commercial solar?

Yes. Those searches are different from homeowner ones, so commercial work gets its own pages.

Do you do SEO for battery storage too?

Yes. If you're a renewable energy company selling batteries too, they get their own pages. Fewer people search for batteries on their own. In UK search data from Ahrefs (October 2026), local battery searches were about a fifth of the size of solar ones. So your main pages should make that offer clear too.

Will you work with other solar companies near me?

Not one based in your town. We take one installer per trade in each area, and that means the town where you're based. It doesn't cover everywhere you're willing to travel, so we could work with a firm based in another town, even if you both cover the same places.

How do I know it's working?

We track the calls and enquiries that come in, and the searches behind them. Your monthly report puts it in plain English, so you can see what each month of solar SEO brought in.

What should I look for in a solar SEO agency?

When you compare SEO services, look for real results from solar companies, with dates, including the numbers that haven't moved yet. A plain monthly report. No long contract. Be wary of any agency that claims it can guarantee the top spot. We're not a big agency. It's the two of us. James has more than 10 years in SEO and does yours himself. Stephanie has more than 13 years in the energy industry and does design and branding.

Can I do solar SEO myself?

Some of it, yes. Set up your Google Business Profile, fill in every service you offer, and ask each customer for a review. Those are good first steps. Planning and writing a page for every search, and earning local links, takes steady time each month. That's the part we do for you.

What happens if I stop?

You keep everything: the pages, the profile, the reviews and the links. Unlike ads, your organic visibility doesn't vanish overnight.
