“What can I say!? Absolutely outstanding service, James has totally transformed my company website to a level I never expected! From going live on Saturday the 17th of October I have already had 3 enquiries!!!! We are now on the 19th of October writing this review.

He has been absolutely none stop back and forth with questions and suggestions throughout the whole process. Just absolutely Brilliant! I would not hesitate to recommend this guy.

There are a lot of people out there that promise the world and then take your money and completely under deliver, trust me I know this as I have been burnt quite a few times. This is definitely not the case with James. Give him a try you will not be disappointed! Thanks James I absolutely love the new site. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻”

How people search for a tree surgeon

After a storm, people don't browse. They search "emergency tree surgeon near me" and ring whoever is in the map with good reviews. On calmer days, they look for someone qualified and insured who won't butcher their trees. SEO for tree surgeons is about being that name for both.

Tree searches range from urgent to carefully planned. Good tree surgeon SEO covers both, and makes your qualifications easy to see.

How people search for a tree surgeon
SearchWhat it means
tree surgeon near meThe main search, won in the map results. Your profile, service area and recent reviews decide whether you show up.
tree surgeon [your town]People planning work. An area page for each town where you can show real jobs helps you appear for the places you want more work in.
emergency tree surgeon / fallen treeUrgent, after storms. Emergency cover shown on your profile and a dedicated page help you get these calls when they spike.
tree felling [your town]Higher value work. A felling page that covers sectional dismantling, access and waste removal reassures people with tricky trees.
crown reduction / tree pruning near mePeople who want to keep the tree. A page explaining the work properly sets you apart from people who just hack branches off.
can I cut down a tree with a TPOWorried homeowners checking the rules. A plain-English page on protected trees and conservation areas earns their trust before they need a quote.

What's included

What SEO for tree surgeons actually involves

Every month, we work on the things that decide which tree surgeons Google shows. Here's what that looks like for a tree business. It's all in the £495, every month.

  • Your Google Business Profile, set up for tree work

The right primary category (Tree service), extra categories that match your work, a sensible service area, hours that reflect any emergency cover, and regular photos of jobs in progress and finished.

  • A page for each job and each town

Felling, crown reductions, pruning, hedge work, stump grinding and emergency work each get their own page, plus area pages for the towns you want work in.

  • Qualifications and insurance shown clearly

Customers are told to check for chainsaw certificates and insurance. We make yours easy to find, along with ARB Approved Contractor status from the Arboricultural Association if you hold it.

  • Helpful pages on TPOs, conservation areas and nesting birds

People worry about breaking the rules. Plain-English pages on checking with the council, and on the bird nesting season, build trust and bring in searchers asking those questions.

  • Reviews that mention the job

A simple routine for asking every customer for a review once the site is cleared. Reviews that mention felling, stump grinding or a town name help you show for those searches.

Proof, written as it happens

What happened when SolarSave's new site went live.

SolarSave is a solar and battery installer in Retford. They're having a new website, then six months of SEO. The site went live on 17 October 2026, so this is the start of the story. The numbers come from Google Search Console, a map rank tool and SolarSave's own records.

  • 1341,977

Google views a day: the average the week before launch, then two days after. It settled at about 1,500.

  • 6enquiries

In the first 11 days, 2 of them booked a call. Worth about £500 to £540 at SolarSave's own lead prices.

  • 14.47.1

Average map rank for “solar panels” round Retford, 10 to 19 October 2026. Lower is better.

The honest bit: SolarSave is a solar installer, not a tree surgeon. We have no SEO results from tree surgeons to show you yet, and we won't pretend otherwise. clicks stayed at about 4 a day, because most of the new searches sat on page four to six. Climbing those is the job for the months ahead. It's too early to say how many of the 6 enquiries found SolarSave through Google rather than already knowing the name. Most of the map move happened before the new site went live, and we don't know what caused it. See the full SolarSave results

What it costs

One monthly price. No contract.

No per-lead fees and no tie-in. You stay because it's working.

What changes the price
Nothing. It's £495 a month. What changes is where the hours go: a city needs more pages and links than a market town.
When it pays for itself
Divide £495 by what a typical job leaves you after costs. That's how many extra jobs a month it takes. Use your own figures, not ours.
How fast it works
A neglected Google profile can move within weeks. New pages usually take a few months to settle.
Only need one part?
A Google Business Profile is £297 to set up or £247 to overhaul, then £147 a month if you want it kept fresh. A website is £600, or £50 a month.

Is it right for you?

It works best for tree surgeons with room for more work.

SEO takes months rather than days, so it isn't right for everyone. If it's not right for you, we'd rather say so now.

A good fit

It's right for you if

  • You can take on more tree surgeon work, in the towns you want
  • Your customers search Google for what you do, and their town
  • You can give it a few months. SEO builds month on month
  • You're happy to ask customers for a Google review after a job

Not the right time

It's not right for you if

  • You need work in the diary this week. Ads are quicker, and we'll say so
  • You're booked solid and can't take on more
  • You want a guaranteed number one spot. Nobody controls Google, so our guarantee is on enquiries
  • Your website is holding you back. Then a new website comes first

Your marketing options

Organic search, Google Ads or buying leads?

Ads and bought leads are quicker to start. SEO is slower, but the enquiries are yours alone, and the work doesn't vanish when you stop.

The guide

Tree surgeon SEO, explained.

How people search for and choose a tree surgeon

Tree work comes in two moods. After a storm, someone has a branch on the conservatory and wants anyone competent, now. The rest of the year, someone has a sycamore that's blocking the light and wants the right person, at the right price, who won't wreck the lawn.

The urgent customer is won in the map results: whoever is visible, has good reviews and answers the phone. The planned customer reads more. They get two or three quotes, look at photos of your work, and check you're qualified and insured, because they've heard the stories about men with chainsaws and no cover.

Good SEO for tree surgeons serves both: a profile that's ready when the storm hits, and pages that answer the careful customer's questions before they ring.

NPTC certificates, ARB Approved and BS 3998: showing your credentials

Your credentials don't move rankings on their own, but they decide who gets the call once you're found. Show them where people can see them, in plain words.

  • NPTC chainsaw certificates. Now awarded through City & Guilds, they cover things like cross-cutting, felling and climbing with a chainsaw (CS39). List the ones your team holds, not a vague "fully qualified".
  • ARB Approved Contractor. The Arboricultural Association runs this scheme, assessing site safety, finished work, office support (including insurance) and health and safety. If you hold it, make it obvious. It's also a listing in their directory.
  • BS 3998. BS 3998:2010 is the British Standard with recommendations for tree work, and it's currently being revised. If you work to it, say so on your pruning and crown reduction pages, and explain what it means for the customer's tree in one sentence.
  • Insurance. Say what public liability cover you carry. If you employ anyone, employers' liability is a legal requirement in most cases too.

TPOs, conservation areas and nesting season: content that wins trust

A lot of homeowners are nervous about the rules, and they search their questions long before they search for a tree surgeon. Answering them well puts your name in front of those people early.

  • Tree Preservation Orders. Most work on a protected tree needs consent from the council, and the Planning Portal says a decision can take up to eight weeks.
  • Conservation areas. Even without a TPO, you must give the council six weeks' notice before working on trees in a conservation area.
  • Nesting birds. Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 it's an offence to damage or destroy a wild bird's nest while it's in use or being built. Councils describe the main nesting season as roughly March to September.

A page that covers these in plain English, and says you'll check before you start, does two things. It ranks for the questions people ask, and it tells the careful customer you're the one who'll do it properly. It also explains your seasons: why big pruning jobs suit late autumn and winter, why a summer felling may need a nest check first, and why storm work arrives with the weather.

Tree surgeon leads: lead sites versus your own

Marketing for tree surgeons usually starts with lead sites and directories, and they can fill a quiet week. The catch is that you pay for as long as you use them, through a membership, a fee per lead or both, and on some sites the same job goes to several firms.

Your own visibility works differently. A strong Google profile, a page for each job and a steady run of reviews take months to build, then keep bringing calls without a fee on each one. Our honest advice is to use both while your own visibility grows, then lean on lead sites less. The bigger picture is on our lead generation for tradesmen page.

One more thing loses tree surgeons more work than bad rankings: missed calls. You can't answer the phone halfway up a tree. A missed-call text back replies to the caller straight away, so the storm job doesn't ring the next name in the map.

Your profile, pages and photos

Tree work photographs well, and that's an advantage. A climber in a crown, a dismantle over a greenhouse, a cleared site with the lawn raked: those pictures tell a customer more than a paragraph about professionalism.

  • Post in-progress and finished photos to your Google profile every week or two, named by job and town.
  • Give felling, crown reductions, pruning, hedges, stump grinding and emergency work their own pages, each with your own photos.
  • Ask every customer for a review once the site is cleared, with a direct link, while the job's fresh in their mind. Google doesn't allow you to reward reviews, only ask the happy ones or tell people what to write, but a review that mentions the job and the town in the customer's own words helps most.

Area pages should work the same way. Say you're a two-person tree firm near Penistone that also covers Barnsley. Your Penistone page shows the beech you reduced on a farm lane and the conifer hedge you took down last winter; your Barnsley page shows three jobs there. That's a page a local customer believes, and one Google has a reason to show. A page with a swapped town name and nothing else isn't.

If your website can't take separate job pages, our websites for tree surgeons are built for it. And if you want to see what's winnable in your area first, start with a free free SEO review.

Questions

Questions tree surgeons ask before they start.

Something else on your mind? Ask us. You'll get a straight answer, usually the same day.

Ask us on WhatsApp
How is SEO for tree surgeons different from normal SEO?

Tree work is local, often urgent, and customers worry about safety and cowboys. So the work focuses on the map results, pages for each type of job, and making your qualifications, insurance and reviews easy to see. That trust is what turns a search into a call.

How do we get tree surgeon leads without paying for them?

Win them in the places people already look: the Google map results, your own job pages and your reviews. Lead sites can fill a quiet week, but you keep paying for as long as you use them. SEO takes longer to build, and the enquiries it brings come to you without a fee each.

Can SEO get us storm and emergency work?

It can help you show up when people search for it nearby, which is where most emergency calls come from. Storm searches spike suddenly and are competitive, and Google decides the order, so we won't promise positions. We'll make sure your emergency cover is clear and show you how visibility changes.

We're not ARB Approved. Does that matter for SEO?

Not for Google directly. It matters to some customers, so if you have it, we show it. If you don't, we focus on what you do have, such as your chainsaw certificates, insurance, photos and reviews. We never claim anything you don't hold.

Should we explain TPOs and conservation areas on our website?

Yes. Homeowners worry about getting it wrong, and many search the question before they search for a tree surgeon. A plain page explaining that protected trees need council consent, and that trees in a conservation area need six weeks' notice, builds trust and shows you'll handle it properly.

How long before we see more tree work enquiries?

Profile and review work can move your map visibility within the first couple of months. New service and area pages usually take a few months to settle. We report what's moving every month in plain English, so you can see what's working.

What if SEO doesn't bring me enquiries?

We agree an enquiry total for your first 6 months in writing before we start. If we haven't hit it after 6 paid months in a row (£2,970), we work free until we do, for up to 6 more months. Then the free work ends, with no refund. See the 6 + 6 Guarantee.

Can you guarantee number one?

No, and be wary of anyone who does. Nobody controls Google. We promise proper work on the searches that bring work, and honest reporting. Our guarantee is on enquiries instead: see the 6 + 6 Guarantee.

Do I need a new website first?

Not usually. New pages and fixes can normally go on the site you have. If your site is holding you back, we'll tell you in your free review, and our websites start with a free homepage design.
